This book might have changed my life. Ha!Let me explain. I never really took Goodreads that seriously before. I was kind of using it as my own personal log of my reading. Like Strava, but for books.
I didn't know who to follow.
I also didn't understand that this new technology completely changes the way people talk about books.
For example: I have always hated the book report review. You know the one, that feels obliged to step you through the plot as if it were a wikipedia entry. Those days are ending and people like Manny are leading the way. A review needs to offer me some kind of insight, even if I will never read the book.
Putting the reviews into book form helped me understand the new culture, the book reframes the online text into something more thoughtful and dignified, that I can sit with at the library.
One book I've used in the past to guide my reading was http://www.toptenbooks.net/
I want Manny to eventually do a book with his top ten for each of his favorite genres. And of course a top ten of all time. Cut and paste, Manny, cut and paste.
